Dr Joseph Fleming, a clinical social worker, has condemned TikTok's newest trend - the "AI chubby" filter.

Dr Fleming called into the Newsflash podcast, on Wednesday, and told Isaac Mulcrone that the fad is "quite disturbing".

"I think this sort of stuff (trend) is quite disturbing and quite concerning, particularly if you've already got an eating disorder or body dissatisfaction. The stats out there are quite high, out there, for young people. I'm glad you've raised this on your show, because I know your listeners are in that demographic," Dr Fleming told listeners.

Dr Fleming agreed some TikTokers are using the fad to shower themselves with compliments from followers but Dr Fleming said it "can have the reverse effect".
His biggest advice is to call-out the content on social media.

"Our society in general... Society (has a) kind of idea of what the perfect, or ideal, body needs to be. That's totally false," he added.
