BREAKING: An American influencer, who "took" a wombat joey from its mother for a photo opportunity, has left Australia.

Samantha Strable — who goes by the name Sam Jones online — has reportedly flown out of the country, although it is unclear if she was deported or left voluntarily.

Despite the unknown nature of her departure, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said "there’s never been a better day to be a baby wombat in Australia".
The self-described 'outdoor enthusiast & hunter' took to social media claiming the hate has become "too much" and told fans she'd be taking a break from socials.

“I get hundreds of ... threats for picking up an animal? ... imagine someone just goes up to your child and curses at them? Let’s have some respect,” Strable reportedly said.
