EXCLUSIVE: Labor Member for Pearce, Tracey Roberts has confirmed her party's support for a hospital in Yanchep, despite claims from the Liberal Party that they're the only party to support it.

Ms Roberts spoke to Youth Jam's Isaac Mulcrone saying the Labor Party "fully supports a hospital in Yanchep".

"(We) fully support a hospital in Yanchep. We definitely need a hospital, so we're working towards it. I'll continue to advocate very strongly for a hospital but until the State Government indicate this is the time now to do it, we're very mindful of that," Ms Roberts told podcast listeners.

"Our hospitals are State Government and (the) Federal Government can support them financially. But it has to be a State Government initiative. Roger Cook is already on record to indicate that we do need a hospital," she added.

No promise has yet been made by the Federal Labor Party to build the hospital, but Ms Roberts says the Federal Government will back the State Government financially when they choose to build the facility.

The Liberal Party, on April 2nd, announced a $1million commitment for a business case into the Yanchep Hospital, which Shadow Health Minister Senator Anne Ruston says will better health infrastructure in the northern suburbs.
"Labor has completely disregarded the people of Wanneroo and their need for timely access to critical hospital services," Shadow Minister for Health, Senator Anne Ruston said.

"That is why the Coalition will fund a business case to kick start the process to deliver better health infrastructure for this rapidly growing community," she concluded.
